I want to teach my toddler numbers, but where do I even start? Teaching toddlers about numbers involves patience. For sure, they’re not going to be able to master it overnight! As parents, we need to first of all adjust our expectations, let our children take the lead, and break learning down into progressive stages to introduce numbers to our kids.

Count along as you go about your daily activities!
Talk & communicate to your child as often as you can. E.g. I’m now wearing your socks, one sock, two sock! Let’s count your fingers 1,2,3,4,5! How many toys do you have? 1,2,3!
How do I help my toddler understand numbers?
Once your toddler is able to start speaking, he or she may attempt to count along with you as you engage them in your usual reading or nursery rhymes. Encourage them to do so! At this stage, they are probably read to be exposed to more activities on numbers.
