When you are focused on stressing your child while engaging him in guided play, you become frustrated and your child can sense that as well. I’ve since learnt that its the process of play that matters, and not the end result. It doesn’t matter if she cannot count now, the fact that I’m exposing her to fun activities that expose & teach her, I’m building on her knowledge and she will get there one day.
Here are 4 tips to play effectively with your child:
Smile, laugh, be dramatic and have fun with your child!
🌟 2. Affirmation
If your child has tried his best, whether he succeeds or not, you praise! Praise his efforts, and not his results. In this way, we encourage our kids to be resilient and not only focused on getting the right answers.
Talk while modelling play to encourage your child and guide him. This also helps to extend playtime and he’s learning from YOU!
Don’t force your child if he doesn’t want to play. If your child has a negative mindset “Mummy, I can’t”, don’t criticise but assure and encourage.
